Tips on How to Distinguish between Itching for Dandruff and Hair lice - Dandruff is a problem experienced by many people both men and women.

Another hair problem also experienced by some people with less frequency is lice.

Both of these issues are equally irritate the hair, but with a different cause.

Here is how to distinguish between problems caused by dandruff and hair lice:

1. Look in the mirror scalp.

Ensure adequate lighting in the room. This will make it easier to see the condition of the scalp more clearly.

2. Search flakes or white spots on the scalp and hair.

White flakes which is located close to the ends of the hair is usually the dandruff.

However, if the flakes are close to the base of the hair, then further tests will be required.

3. Hair comb.

If white flakes when combed move, chances are it is dandruff.

But if the white flakes stay and not move, it is likely due to lice.

4. Try to washing hair.

Usually wash my hair a few times is enough to eliminate dandruff.

After shampooing and drying hair, try to check out the hair in the mirror.

If there are white spots, especially near the base of the hair, the lice will most likely be the cause.

5. Note any severe itching on the scalp.

While dandruff sometimes cause itching, but generally not too severe.

Instead, head lice cause severe itching of the scalp. Scratching your scalp will not solve the problem.

Severe itching can be an indicator of lice.
